Wuthering Heights Inspired Bridal Shoot | Romantic Bridal Hair in Lincolnshire

Emma-Jayne Waby

A wild, timeless romance, dramatic imagery, and a sense of untamed beauty, this is what we set out to capture in this Wuthering Heights inspired collaboration. A love story that generations have fallen in love with, now reimagined for a modern bridal audience.

The Inspiration Behind This Wuthering Heights Shoot

As a bridal hairstylist based in Lincolnshire, I wanted to create something that felt both editorial and wearable for modern brides. After seeing all the hype on social media about the new film, I started looking into Wuthering Heights more. I read the book…and I was hooked! The story, the passion, the drama, I loved it! Watching the film made me fall in love even more. I loved how they had set the scenes, how they portrayed the characters and I loved the costumes and hair styles. I knew doing a shoot with this vision would be beautiful, and it actually turned out even better than I thought.

I wanted to show the gothic, dark romance that runs through the book and the film. I wanted to show how beautiful something could be without being perfect and neat. My vision used some cuts from the film as well as my own interpretation into what I thought the book described.

Romantic Bridal Hair and Makeup Inspiration

As soon as I saw the corset hairstyle in the film, I knew I wanted to recreate that. I feel it ties in the traditional styling of the time when Wuthering Heights was set, as well as feeling bridal with the white ribbon and soft curls. By pinning the front of the hair up and keeping the bouncy curls down, it helped create the soft, romantic style and still have the movement we needed with the windswept photos. As a bridal hairstylist specialising in romantic, effortless styles, I feel this style that I chose is easily wearable as a real bride. I chose to use white ribbon for the corset detailing, rather than the dark red and blue ribbon in the film. I wanted to do this so that the ribbon added detail that matched the dress rather than being too obvious. This look is perfect for brides wanting something romantic and slightly undone, while still feeling polished and bridal.

My advice for brides is “A romantic, effortless hairstyle is so perfect for a lot of brides. It gives you that softness that I have found most brides look for. It gives you a soft glam style while still keeping you comfortable and feeling yourself during your big day. It can be very versatile, using different accessories to keep it within your wedding theme.”

Our makeup artist was the lovely Millie MUA. Millie was so excited to be joining this shoot. She wanted to focus on creating a look that still felt true to Wuthering Heights but giving us the impact we needed for the photos and videos, and she achieved this beautifully. Millie kept the look fresh and soft, which made our model look incredible!

Millie’s advice to brides is “For brides choosing their makeup style, I’d say don’t just rely on Pinterest. It’s great for inspiration, but it’s not always realistic. Look at real work from makeup artists on Instagram instead, and try to find people with similar features to you, like skin tone, eye colour, and hair colour because the same look can appear completely different on different people. I’d also really recommend booking a trial, or even having your makeup done a few times in the lead-up to your wedding so you feel comfortable and confident in what suits you.”

“A lot of people think less is more, but for longevity, you need that extra bit of makeup so it holds up through the day. Layering is also key!”

“My favourite part of the collaboration was definitely the group of us. We all got on so well, had such a laugh, and it just felt like everyone really brought the vision to life together, which made the whole experience even better.”

Styling a Moody, Romantic Wedding

Our gorgeous dresses were supplied by Naomi Bridal Boutique. The Baccara gown by Eva Lendel was the perfect dress with its soft drama and natural movement. It has that slightly undone, romantic feel that aligns beautifully with the Wuthering Heights aesthetic. The silhouette of the dress is soft and effortless, with a quiet, romantic impact. It feels modern yet timeless, enhancing the bride without overpowering her. The movement and softness complemented the moody, windswept styling perfectly, creating a really cohesive and romantic look. This style is perfect for brides who want movement, softness, and a gown that feels effortlessly romantic rather than overly structured.

Naomi’s advice to future brides is “Focus on how it makes you feel. The right dress should feel effortless, confident, and completely you. Start with your personal style, then layer in elements of your theme. The best looks feel natural, not forced.”

“Brides are leaning towards softer, more expressive styles that feel fashion-led but still wearable.”

To complement the moody, romantic feel of this Wuthering Heights inspired shoot, Hancocks Menswear created a groom look that felt timeless, powerful, and perfectly in keeping with the Heathcliff influence behind the vision.

The groom wore a classic black tux with tailored trousers and waistcoat, finished with a black velvet jacket that added depth, texture, and a subtle sense of drama. The velvet detailing brought a nod to the darker romantic tone of the story, while still feeling refined and wearable for a modern wedding.

The overall look was intentionally understated yet impactful, balancing the softness of the bridal styling with a strong, cinematic edge that tied the whole story together beautifully.

Bringing together our venue styling was three amazing wedding suppliers. We had Hall Farm Hotel, Finishing Touches Wedding & Event Hire, and Raspberry Rose Designs. They understood my vision immediately and elevated it beyond anything I could have imagined. I knew it was going to be beautiful with this team by my side.

The rustic barn conversion at Hall Farm was a natural home for our Wuthering Heights inspired shoot. We had the stunning surroundings for our outdoor images, with the sweeping countryside and lake. We had exclusive use of the venue, just as a bride and groom would on their wedding day, which gave us full creative license to immerse ourselves in the moody, romantic, and definitely windswept day with no interruptions.

Angela’s (Hall Farm) advice to future brides is “Choose a venue that feels like you. Beyond the practicalities, it should reflect your personality and the atmosphere you want to create for your day. Whether that’s romantic and dramatic, relaxed and rustic, or something completely unique, the right setting will shape the entire experience, for both you and your guests”

“Couples often tell us how much they value the exclusivity and flow of the day. We only host one wedding at a time, so the entire venue is theirs to enjoy with their loved ones.”

Soft, natural textures, rich reds, florals and fruits, flickering statement candelabras were all brought together to bring our vision to life! Sarah at Raspberry Rose Designs, and Sue at Finishing Touches Wedding & Event Hire, came together and created an iconic table display.

Sarah used a beautiful handmade paper with traditional handwritten script to fit the natural, raw theme that was set in the Yorkshire Moors. The gorgeous quote written on the banner was a perfect nod to the passionate love between Cathy and Heathcliff, something that couples could use in their own weddings, a personal quote between the two of them printed on to their wedding stationery. The entwined C & H was the most perfect touch.

Sarah shared this advice “Wedding stationery is one of those small things which makes such a big impact on the overall vibe. If you have a theme or specific colour scheme you can really amplify this with your stationery. Lean into the theme and really think about the textures and materials you use. Whether this is the card chosen, the rustic or simple clean lines, or if you love layers of ribbon or feel a classic wax seal is more you; just go for it!”

Sue showed us how an intimate wedding could look so beautiful with the draping fabric, caterpillar style layout and touches of gold and floral pieces mixed in with the gorgeous deep colour palette.

Sue shared that “Draping is a wedding trend for 2026 that we are loving. Soft fabrics, flowing textures, and layering help to create a romantic atmosphere from ceiling installations to delicate backdrops. Draping can transform any space to something special by combining lighting and statement florals.”

Capturing the Story

Capturing our beautiful vision was Merika Green Photography and Dan & Chris at Cask Creative. They all knew how much fun this was going to be when we saw the weather forecast was rain and 50mph winds…but isn’t that what Wuthering Heights is?!

Merika was the perfect photographer for this shoot, after growing up loving period dramas she was always going to be the one to capture that romantic, raw aesthetic that we needed. She listened to all our interpretations of the film and our visions, as well as some of her own stunning ideas.

Merika has said “we embraced the weather and the result was magical. The shot of Jen running through the grass, the wind lifting her dress and tangling through her hair, creating a scene that felt straight out of a timeless period drama.”

“Authentic storytelling happens when couples feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Trusting your photographer means you can relax, forget the camera, and let real moments unfold organically.”

This is exactly what this shoot was about, real movement, real emotion, and moments that feel completely unposed.

Dan & Chris have come together to create a perfect videographer team. They brought this to life through beautifully captured, emotive film. They focussed on the in between moments, showing the bits that are sometimes missed, the way the dress moved in the wind, the small shifts in expressions, the natural and unscripted parts that are just as beautiful.

Dan & Chris added that “Photography freezes a moment beautifully, but film lets you relive it in a much more immersive way. With our wedding films, we like to tell a story for the couple to come back to and feel those emotions again and again. You might not watch it every week, but when you do, it takes you straight back. Photos are essential, but video gives you a completely different layer of memory from the day. The vows, the speeches, the atmosphere and the way everything actually unfolded.”

“A big part for us about this industry is getting to work with and meet so many amazing people. It was great to see how aligned everything felt creatively. Everyone was working towards the same mood and didn't overcomplicate it. It made space to focus on the details and just let everything happen naturally.”

Helping us all achieve our vision was the beautiful Jen Atkin, Mrs Uk winner! Jen was an absolute dream to work with, going with our ideas and thoughts, listening to every one of us. Jen loved seeing herself as a bride again but in a totally different way to how she looked when she got married to her husband.

Jen added “I loved the dewy bridal make up and the way my hair was done was different to anything I’ve ever had. I felt so pretty!”

“As someone who wears pretty dresses often I found it hard finding a wedding dress when I was getting married in 2019. Bridal confidence is something so incredibly different from pageant confidence. Everything from the decor, tones, colours, candles, the bridal make up and wearing white just makes everything feel so much more romantic. Bridal confidence to me is much more confidence in knowing that as beautiful as you look on your wedding day, you know you’ll win your man’s heart over and over again regardless…the way you dress up on your wedding day is for YOU.”

Lincolnshire Wedding Suppliers Collaboration

Leading this project showed me how amazing our team was. It showed me how much passion we all had for our part in the project and I loved that. To bring everything together, I created a mood board to ensure all suppliers were aligned while still allowing creative freedom. It made me feel so proud to have brought us all together. It was important to me that we were all local wedding companies. One of my favourite moments was seeing everyone arrive and immediately bring the vision to life with so much passion. I wanted future brides to see our collaboration and know that we are all from the Lincolnshire area and worked so well together. I feel very lucky that we have so many talented suppliers around us.

I think an easy mistake brides can make is not being themselves. Your wedding hair should be you but extra, it shouldn’t be a whole new look as then you don’t feel comfortable in yourself. Also listening to other people isn’t always the best. Obviously you want people to love your look but if you’re happy with it then that is the most important thing.

Your bridal hairstylist is with you all wedding morning, you want someone who you get on with and gets your vibe. Finding a stylist that fits your look will ensure that you achieve your wedding look perfectly. Check out their previous bridal styles, go in for a consultation or even book a hair up for another occasion before hand.

I would describe my bridal hair styling as romantic, feminine, and soft-glam. I feel like my approach to bridal hair is unique as I am not just “the hairdresser”. If needed, I will help them beforehand with any recommendations they might need. I’ll help them plan their wedding morning so that it runs smoothly. During their trial I will go through things they like and don’t like about their hair and styles so that we choose the most perfect look for their day. Even on the day, I’m never just “the hairdresser”. I’ll do my best to keep everyone running to a good time, make sure outfits are spot on, dry flowers while everyones getting dressed, tie bows, fasten shoes, anything at all to make the morning perfect! If I can make a brides morning more seamless, then I will.

For brides drawn to effortless, romantic styling with a modern editorial edge, this look is a beautiful reminder that your wedding day can feel both elevated and entirely your own.

If you're looking for bridal hairstylist in Lincolnshire and feel drawn to romantic, effortless styling like this, I would love to be part of your day.

💄 When Should You Book Your Bridal Makeup Artist? (And Other Juicy Wedding Day Beauty Secrets!) Hey gorgeous bride-to-be! I’m Jade Clay, bridal makeup artist, skincare lover, and all-round wedding morning hype woman. I’ve spent the last 15 years helping brides feel confident, radiant, and ready to walk down that aisle like it’s a red carpet, and now I’m here to spill the tea on when to book your bridal makeup artist, what to look for, and how to get skin so good your photographer won’t need filters. Whether you’re at the Pinterest-mood-board stage or full-on countdown mode, this is your ultimate wedding glam guide. Let’s go! 💍 So… When Should You Book Your Bridal Makeup Artist? Short answer? As early as you can. Long answer? The second your venue and date are confirmed, start enquiring. Prime wedding dates (especially those summer Saturdays) book up fast, and many makeup artists are locked in a year or more in advance. So if you’ve fallen in love with someone’s work (like mine, maybe? 👀), reach out early, you don’t want to miss out. 💋 What to Look for in a Bridal Makeup Artist ✅ 1. Vibe Check This person is going to be right there with you during one of the most special, and emotional, mornings of your life. You want good energy, calm confidence, and ideally someone who’ll make you laugh when the nerves kick in. ✅ 2. Experience With 15 years in the bridal and beauty industry, I’ve helped hundreds of brides of all ages, tones, styles, and visions. Whether you’re after soft natural glam or full-on drama, you want someone who knows how to work under pressure and keep everything running smoothly. ✅ 3. Portfolio + Consistency Check out their previous work (mine’s at jadeclay.com 💁‍♀️). Look for consistency, glowing skin, and styles that resonate with you. Every bride is different, your artist should help bring out your version of beautiful. ✅ 4. Trials Are a Must Bridal trials are about more than makeup. They’re a chance to test looks, talk skincare, chat timings, and get comfy with your artist. No surprises on the day, just a big ol’ glow-up. 🕒 Let’s Talk About Timing This bit is SO important and often overlooked. ⏰ Plan Backwards From Your Ceremony Time Getting married at 12:00pm? Then hair and makeup should be completely finished by 10:30am, especially if you’re getting ready at the venue. You’ll need time for: • Photos • Dress reveal • Getting into your dress (which always takes longer than you think) • Having a little moment with your loved ones If you’re travelling to your venue, you’ll need to finish even earlier. 💡Not a morning person? Consider a later ceremony time to give yourself more time to relax and enjoy the process. 👯‍♀️ Bridal Party Size Matters The more people needing hair and makeup, the earlier the start, or the more artists you’ll need to bring in. This can be tricky to coordinate, especially during peak wedding season. ✨ Real Talk: The Wedding Morning Vibes Here’s where years of experience really come into play… 🎀 Steam the Night Before All steaming should be done the day or night before. Steam + freshly styled hair = sad curls. Steam + just-applied makeup = sweaty face. Just don’t do it. 😅 👗 Keep All Items Together Keep your outfit, shoes, accessories (and your bridesmaids’) all in one place so there’s no frantic morning hunting. Trust me, it saves chaos! 🧼 Clean Space = Beautiful Photos Ask your bridesmaids to help keep the room tidy. Not only does it make your morning feel calmer, it makes the photos and videos SO much better. No rogue Diet Coke cans in the background of your bridal portrait! 👯‍♀️ Know Your Roles, Bridesmaids! Bridesmaids aren’t just there to look pretty, they’re your team. Remind them that their job is to keep the morning running smoothly and make sure YOU feel relaxed, supported, and spoiled. 💡 Make Space for the Glam Team We need space, natural light, and plugs (and coffee, if we’re being honest!). The bigger the space, the better the experience. ☕ Don’t Forget to Hydrate Your Glam Squad (Seriously!) Look, we love you, we love makeup, and we love weddings. But we’re also human beings running on caffeine and kindness. We often power through 6 hours without stopping, hauling heavy kits, multitasking 20 conversations, keeping everyone calm, and somehow still blending a smokey eye like it’s no big deal. So, please, please, please: 💧 Have water bottles out ☕ Offer us a coffee (we will love you forever) 🍌 Throw in a banana or a biscuit and we might cry with joy Because let’s be honest: carrying five litres of water in our kit is just unnecessary bicep work at this point. A hydrated glam squad = a happy, glowing bride. Everyone wins. 🏰 If Your Venue Has a Bridal Suite…BOOK IT Getting-ready rooms at venues are a game-changer. And if you can, have hair and makeup in one room, and keep another clean space for getting dressed and hanging your gown. It keeps everything beautiful for those ‘getting into the dress’ photos! 💕 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work One of the biggest joys of my job is working with amazing wedding suppliers, and I have to give a special shoutout to the absolutely lovely Emma-Jayne from Mirror Mirror Bridal Hair 💫 We’ve worked together so many times, and the vibe is always magical, smiles, laughter, calm energy, and a totally seamless morning. If you’re lucky enough to have Emma-Jayne doing your hair and me on makeup? Let’s just say… you’re in for a seriously good time 😍 🧴 Get That Skin Glowing, Girl Your makeup will look even better if your skin is in top shape. Here’s what I tell all my brides: • Hydrate like a queen – water is your best friend. • Stick to a simple, consistent routine – cleanse, moisturise, SPF. No dramatic new products! • Eat well, sleep well, stress less – easier said than done, but it truly helps your glow. • Avoid facials or new treatments within 2 weeks – no surprise breakouts, please! • Don’t forget your lips – exfoliate gently and moisturise them in the lead-up. ✨ Final Thoughts from Jade Your wedding morning should feel like a calm, happy, joyful bubble of glam and love. With the right prep, the right team, and a bit of planning, you’ll float into your dress feeling incredible. And if I’m there? Expect calm energy, glowing makeup, and maybe a little bit of dancing in between lashes 💃 If you’ve got your date and you’re ready to chat makeup, visit jadeclay.com to view my work and get in touch. How Eve & Lewis Met: A Lockdown Love Story I had the absolute pleasure of joining Eve and her beautiful family at their home to help bring Eve and Lewis’s timeless wedding vision to life. Their love story began in 2021, during that strange in-between phase of the COVID pandemic, when restrictions had just lifted enough to allow outdoor dining. They were both at the Coach House beer garden in Cleethorpes, Eve with her friends, Lewis with his. Although they had vaguely known of each other through mutual friends, they had never actually crossed paths until that afternoon. Lewis couldn’t take his eyes off Eve, and about a week later, he sent her that all-important first message. That’s where their story truly began. Building a Life Together in Cleethorpes Their relationship moved quickly, but naturally. It just felt right for them. Within the first year, they moved in together. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Etta, who they say turned their world upside down in the best possible way. A standout memory for the couple was their first holiday as a family of three. Lewis made it unforgettable for them both by proposing to Eve on the Jetty, exactly two years on from when he had given Eve a promise ring. In just four years, they’ve built a life that’s full of love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos, the joyful kind that comes with raising a family. Their journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been theirs and they look forward to everything they still have to come. Planning Their Wedding at Stallingborough Grange The couple tied the knot at the beautiful Stallingborough Grange in Lincolnshire in May 2025. Planning brought a mix of excitement and occasional overwhelm, but seeing everything come together made it all worthwhile. Eve had the support of her mum, sister (who was also Maid of Honour), and of course, Lewis. Together, they helped bring her vision to life, turning ideas and dreams into a meaningful, joy-filled reality. Choosing Local Lincolnshire Wedding Suppliers They chose their suppliers based on a mix of long-standing admiration and exciting new discoveries. Some, Eve had known since she started working in the industry at 18, she’d always loved their work and followed their journey over the years. Their consistent quality and creativity made them a natural choice. Others were found more recently through social media. After coming across some stunning wedding images, Eve looked into the suppliers behind them, and when their style matched her vision, she reached out. Often, they turned out to be the perfect fit! A Ceremony Filled With Family Moments One of Eve’s absolute favourite things about the day was having Etta there. “Even though she went completely rogue during the ceremony, running around the altar and plonking herself down on the church kneelers right in front of the vicar, it just made everything feel more us. Her little moment of mischief brought so much laughter and warmth to the day, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.” If Eve had to relive one part of the day, it would be the church ceremony. That was the heart of it all—the reason they were there. It was emotional, full of meaning and love. Everything else was wonderful, but that part…that was everything. Bride-to-Bride Advice from Eve “You’ll question every decision, probably more than once. You’ll wonder if you should’ve just eloped a million times over. But when the day arrives, and you see it all come together, the people, the love, the joy, it will be worth every ounce of stress and worry. Trust the process, breathe through the chaos, and know that it will all be alright on the day. Oh, and truly savour every second of your wedding day. Stay close to your partner, share the joy, the laughter, and the little moments together. The day will fly by in the blink of an eye, because time really is a thief. So be present, soak it all in, and make memories side by side.” Eve & Lewis’s Wedding Suppliers in Cleethorpes & Lincolnshire • Hairdresser – Emma-Jayne at Mirror Mirror Cleethorpes @mirrormirrorcleethorpes | @mirrormirror.emma-jayne • Make-Up Artist – Natalie Kate @nataliekatemua • Wedding Dress – Bridal Rogue Gallery York @bridal.rogue.gallery • Groom’s Suits – Coates Couture @coatescouturebridal • Venue – Stallingborough Grange, Lincolnshire @stallingboroughgrange • Photography – James and Merika Green @jamesgreenstudio • Venue Styling – Love In the Lime Light @loveinthelimelight Planning Your Wedding in Cleethorpes or Lincolnshire? Do they all have to have the same hairstyle? Totally up to you, if you don’t want them to then that is fine! If you love a uniformed look, then go for it. I do actually love to see all the bridesmaids in the same style, but sometimes it just doesn’t work for your maids. There are so many ways to think about this, if they all have the same dress would you love for them to show their personalities with their own hairstyles? Or would you love them all to have the same dress and same hairstyle? If your maids have got different dresses or the multiway dresses, would you like them to have the same hairstyles to bring them all together more or keep them different with hair too? Do I let them pick their style? You could shortlist some styles for them to pick from so you know you’ll like them but they pick their favourite, or you could give them free rein to choose whatever they prefer. I’ve noticed over the years that when bridesmaids are picking their own hairstyles, the ones that are second, third or fourth in the chair tend to have similar to the first one anyway. If you are letting your maids pick their hairstyles why don’t you get them to decide on a style and send it in to your group chat a few weeks before the wedding. You might find that they are looking at similar styles anyway. This way there is no deciding on the wedding morning and everyone will know whats happening. What if one of them has extensions? Hair extensions are not a problem! I can make sure they are styled so no-one will see any bonds or tapes so don’t worry about that. All I would say is to just make sure they are fitted close to the wedding date so they are fresh, but not too close that they will be tight and sore on the wedding day. Can my maid of honour have a different style? Definitely! I’ve been seeing this a lot this year. Different hair styles, different style dresses, even different colour dresses! So, yes! Your maid of honour can absolutely have a different hair style if you want her to feel more special. What accessories do they wear? What fits with your wedding? Do you want flowers, pearls, sparkle? Or keep them simple and have no accessories? I personally love a hair accessory, I feel like it totally finishes the style and makes your bridal party stand out more from the rest of the wedding guests. There is no right or wrong way with your bridesmaids hair. The main thing, I think, is that everyone is happy and comfortable with how they look. This is what will show through on your wedding photos. A confident bridal party is the most beautiful. You might think that booking your bridal hair for your wedding day is it, but don’t you want to make sure your hair is in the best condition as possible ready for your big day and those beautiful photos? Of course you do! You want to look your very best on your big day, so why not start a healthy hair care routine to help with this. See what hair care your hairdresser recommends. Using a good shampoo and conditioner can make the biggest difference, I’ve seen it happen so many times with my clients! I recommend washing your hair once or twice a week, and with a good shampoo, you can do that. It can take some training, pushing it an extra day each time, but its definitely possible. I would also recommend a deep conditioning treatment every 2-4 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair. I would always recommend a classic colour and cut on your wedding day to help keep your look timeless. In years to come you probably won’t want to look back at your wedding photos and wonder what you was thinking because you’d gone with a colour trend that was fashionable at the time. However, if you are one to make a statement with your look, then don’t let me stop you! I do love a statement hair colour and your wedding day should be all about you and what you love. I would advise to fit in at least 3 colours in the lead up to your wedding if you’re thinking of changing it. Just to make sure it is what you want and you are happy with it. I would also recommend getting your hair trimmed!!! This isn’t just for your wedding day, this is for life! Every 8 weeks for a trim will help keep your hair in gorgeous condition which will help keep it longer which is generally what my brides want to achieve. For your actual wedding colour and cut, I would probably book this for a week before the big day. Enjoy some time for yourself, you’ll have no doubt been finishing any bits that need doing and have a list of jobs for that week, so have that time while your colours been done to relax. This is your day! Your dreamy wedding hair plan… 7/8 months before your wedding - decide on what colour you’d like to be for your wedding and get booked in! Have a consultation and get the shampoo and conditioner your hairdresser recommends. 6 months before your wedding - First colour and cut towards your wedding hair! 4 months before your wedding - Second colour and cut, make any changes to bits you’re not sure about. 2 months before your wedding - Third colour and cut. This should be your ideal colour now! The week of your wedding! - Final colour and cut ready for your big day! Treat yourself to a conditioning treatment too, have that luxury hair!

Is a bridal hair trial worth it? Absolutely! Most stylists will want to do a wedding hair trial for you, as well as for them. It's like a sneak peek into your hair dreams and a chance for you to test-drive that perfect look. Plus, it helps us figure out if your hair needs a little extra love before the big day - like hair extensions, a fresh color, or a bouncy blowdry. At Mirror Mirror, I always add a trial into the wedding package. This gives me a chance to see what your hair is like, prepping me to work my magic on your wedding day! From hair tips to accessory advice, I've got your back on all things wedding glam. What happens at a bridal hair trial? This is an opportunity for you to trial your hair style. Bring in your inspiration pictures and your hair accessories and veil. I have various hair accessories in the salon for you to experiment with so you can get a better idea for your wedding hair. If you wear clip in hair extensions then you can bring those in too. If you normally have bonded/weave/tape hair extensions in or you want them for the day then make sure you have had those fitted for at least a week before your trial to see the complete wedding hair look. You might want to bring someone with you, your mum or maid-of-honour or a bridesmaid. Or you can come on your own! Whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Should you wash your hair before a wedding hair trial? For your wedding hair trial you should come in with your hair clean and dry. You can wash it that day or the day before as along as your hair isn’t dirty ready for styling. For your hair trial, skip the heat styling tools, like straighteners, just blowdry it, to keep your hair in the best condition for me to work my magic on! When should you have your trial? This is totally your choice. Most brides will book their wedding hair years in advance so to have a trial then could be too early for you as you might change your ideas. I would recommend to have your trial alongside your makeup trial or a dress fitting or even both. That way you can see your hair with another part of your wedding day look. Some brides like to have their trial for their hen do but this just depends if you want your hair to be a surprise on the day or if you want to show it off as many times as possible! If you have booked your wedding hair years in advance but you want to put your mind at ease then why not have a hair up for another occasion sooner? Or have an extra bridal trial? I don’t want my brides to be nervous about their hair at all so if an extra trial is what you need then just let me know. Ashleigh and Harry started dating in 2016 and have the cutest love story! I’m not going to lie, with all the emotions on the wedding morning and then Ashleigh telling us all how they met and started dating, I nearly started crying! “I’d followed Harry for a few years on Instagram purely by chance really! Someone I knew at the time was learning how to play guitar and knew I loved Arctic Monkeys so offered to learn a song of my choice. I searched #ArcticMonkeys on Instagram to see if I could find an example video to demonstrate how to play my chosen song and came across Harry, he was amazing and after scrolling through his feed and realising we had nearly identical music taste I decided to give him a follow. It didn’t take long for me to realise I actually had a bit of an internet crush! I was 15 at the time and it took nearly 2 years for me to finally pluck up the courage to start commenting on Harrys posts with the eventual aim of “sliding into his DMs”… he beat me to it and slid into mine. We quickly realised we lived 250 miles apart, but our connection was immediate and insane. We spoke for just over a month before travelling to meet each other, and once we did the rest was history. I moved to Grimsby for us to live together a year later, we bought our first house just shy of a year after that and Harry got down on one knee in our own living room during lock down a week before my birthday in 2020. We’ve achieved some amazing things in our nearly 7 years together and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect person to be doing it all with.” Ashleigh and Harry got married on 29th October 2022 and to match the month, they picked the most gorgeous theme of moody, dark and romantic. Absolutely stunning! “We loved every second of wedding planning (nearly). It was a little stressful at times but we had some incredible people supporting us through, including our parents and a great team of friends behind us! I’d give a special shout out to my Maid of Honour, Sophie, who was the most hands MOH I could have asked for…she was a natural! It was such an exciting time, we were glad to have nearly 2 years to plan it as it gave us enough time to make sure everything was perfect but not feel a massive strain of trying to get it all done so quickly.” “Every moment was incredible, but the most incredible moment was seeing each other from either end of the aisle. The moment you lock eyes for the first time is so beautiful and overwhelming.” “Enjoy every moment of planning. Know that your day will be perfect regardless of any stresses or circumstances. Big yourself up all day, you look amazing and you should feel it! All that matters in the end is that you and your partner get to enjoy the day and that you’re making such a wonderful commitment to each other." Obviously we had the most amazing night, but it was a fundraising night. I am so proud of how much money we actually raised for both these charities. Both are very close to my heart and I want to do as much as I can to not just raise money but also awareness as its so important that people don’t feel alone! From being a little girl I knew I wanted a family, a husband, a home, the lot! Then as I got older and learnt more about things my mum went through to have me (a very long IVF journey), it made me think that I could potentially struggle to have a baby. I had no reasoning for this, just a gut instinct. Unfortunately I was right. Matt and I planned to start our family after our honeymoon in 2017. It took us until April 2018 to see a positive pregnancy test. A full year! And as soon as you see that line that is it. I was mapping out that little baby’s whole life! Unfortunately this was taken away from us when at 7 weeks 3 days I started bleeding. I can’t even tell you the pain I felt in my heart when I knew what was happening. We started trying again as soon as we could but during that time we hit all the little milestones of our first baby…the 12 week scan date, the 20 week scan date, the day we would have announced it, its due date…it was heartbreaking. There was even someone who I knew who was pregnant when I was and they would have been about the same due date. So seeing her bump grow and then be born was another reminder of where my baby would have been at. We finally saw what we needed to see though in January 2019…another positive test! I was so happy, but also nervous after my loss last time. But I thought there’s no way it’ll happen again. I was counting down the weeks to get past that 7 weeks 3 days but this time we didn’t even make it to that. At 6 weeks 2 days our second little baby left us. I was so broken at this point. People would tell me not to worry, don’t stress, it’ll happen…but how did they know. No-one could know that I would definitely be able to carry a baby full term. Months passed again and we fought to see a doctor just to see why this was happening. We had to fight because to them we had “only” lost 2 baby’s and it hadn’t been quite a full year in between each pregnancy, even though we were now nearly 2 years on and no baby still. The doctor said there was no reason why this was happening, just unexplained infertility. And let me tell you, I did everything. I tried all the old wives tales, I had acupuncture, I drank cough syrup and took aspirin. I don’t know if any of these helped or not but I couldn’t just do nothing. In September 2019, around what would have been our second baby’s due date, we found out we were pregnant again. I was happy again but so nervous! But we kept getting to each milestone and getting past it! Our little miracle finally joined us in May 2020 and we could not be happier, if not more tired then I ever knew you could be haha! He is such a blessing to us. I was very lucky with the support I received from my friends and family for the Charity Ball, but also the amazing suppliers we had keeping the night going! Kirsty at Healing Manor was brilliant throughout the lead up and on the night keeping everything on track, our fabulous magicians, John Morton and Dave Burns kept everyone entertained, as well as the stunning Karys Kennedy with her beautiful singing voice, Dale Styward the DJ with some brilliant music and a last minute change to our photographer with Sky Green. Thank you all so much! You helped bring my night together and I really appreciate it. I also want to shoutout to all the support we received from local businesses for our raffle and auction prizes. You were all so generous! I’ll post a list of all the amazing businesses at the bottom of this blog, but a few of the prizes we had donated were incredible! We donated a full pamper session at Mirror Mirror, Rebecca Barker donated a massive £200 voucher for semi permanent makeup, we had Grimsby Town FC signed merchandise, a huge photoshoot with all the photos from the fabulous Merika Green , a course of laser hair removal from RW Aesthetics , tickets to see Wicked in London, a golf voucher for 4 guests at Grimsby Golf Club , a party hire package from The Modern Castle and finally a brand new party option from Floss N Pop of S’mores board hire. The auction started off civil…but it went wild at the end, it was hilarious! All of the heartache we experienced before Jesse came along affected me, but also Matt. He was amazing during all of it, keeping strong for both of us but that had its toll on him. I’ll let Matt tell you his story though… “Life, in general, began taking its toll on me - with the stresses of losing babies and feeling as if I couldn’t do anything to help console EmJay was torture. Initially the football team really helped, being surrounded by a group of other guys who has experienced similar things was good but I still didn’t like talking about things. The football itself was a good distraction for a while. Eventually with stresses of life and work (among other things) started to lead me down a dark road. The occasional thought here and there until it got to a point I never thought I would reach. I was there thinking is there really any point. Would anyone miss me if I wasn’t here. My thoughts stemmed from a massive lack in self esteem and believing that I wasn’t worthy of my relationships with friends and loved ones. I got to levels of coping mechanisms that I didn’t even contemplate I would ever involve myself with. From there I was stuck. Even the smallest of things in life would push me to those mechanisms. Eventually, there were a few people I had confided in but this only made things worse. I felt like a burden to my friends and family and resorted to closing myself off again. I made some very positive life changes, such as a new job which gave me more time at home and to spend doing things that would help as a distraction. I’ve been fortunate enough that I haven’t looked back so far this year and going to Andy’s Man Club has helped with this. Although I still played down my issues after hearing other stories, thinking that my issues aren’t as bad as others and I’m just being stupid, after speaking with some of the fantastic facilitators helped me realise that they do matter and no issue that makes me feel like this is small. I have a group that I go to weekly that helps me have a reset on the week as well as a laugh and joke with others men who haven struggled with these sorts of thoughts and actions. It’s great knowing we’re all there for each other and I’m finally beginning to open up and it will help build new relationships. I can’t imagine looking back and not going to AMC now and I just hope that I can start to help people get back on track the way I’ve started to. “ Again, thank you everyone for all your support, no matter what it was. I am so very grateful. I am planning on making this a regular event as I do want to help as many people as I can. But lets make it even bigger and better!! Hopefully see you at the next one!
