The Inspiration Behind This Wuthering Heights Shoot As a bridal hairstylist based in Lincolnshire, I wanted to create something that felt both editorial and wearable for modern brides. After seeing all the hype on social media about the new film, I started looking into Wuthering Heights more. I read the book…and I was hooked! The story, the passion, the drama, I loved it! Watching the film made me fall in love even more. I loved how they had set the scenes, how they portrayed the characters and I loved the costumes and hair styles. I knew doing a shoot with this vision would be beautiful, and it actually turned out even better than I thought. I wanted to show the gothic, dark romance that runs through the book and the film. I wanted to show how beautiful something could be without being perfect and neat. My vision used some cuts from the film as well as my own interpretation into what I thought the book described. Romantic Bridal Hair and Makeup Inspiration As soon as I saw the corset hairstyle in the film, I knew I wanted to recreate that. I feel it ties in the traditional styling of the time when Wuthering Heights was set, as well as feeling bridal with the white ribbon and soft curls. By pinning the front of the hair up and keeping the bouncy curls down, it helped create the soft, romantic style and still have the movement we needed with the windswept photos. As a bridal hairstylist specialising in romantic, effortless styles, I feel this style that I chose is easily wearable as a real bride. I chose to use white ribbon for the corset detailing, rather than the dark red and blue ribbon in the film. I wanted to do this so that the ribbon added detail that matched the dress rather than being too obvious. This look is perfect for brides wanting something romantic and slightly undone, while still feeling polished and bridal. My advice for brides is “A romantic, effortless hairstyle is so perfect for a lot of brides. It gives you that softness that I have found most brides look for. It gives you a soft glam style while still keeping you comfortable and feeling yourself during your big day. It can be very versatile, using different accessories to keep it within your wedding theme.” Our makeup artist was the lovely Millie MUA. Millie was so excited to be joining this shoot. She wanted to focus on creating a look that still felt true to Wuthering Heights but giving us the impact we needed for the photos and videos, and she achieved this beautifully. Millie kept the look fresh and soft, which made our model look incredible! Millie’s advice to brides is “For brides choosing their makeup style, I’d say don’t just rely on Pinterest. It’s great for inspiration, but it’s not always realistic. Look at real work from makeup artists on Instagram instead, and try to find people with similar features to you, like skin tone, eye colour, and hair colour because the same look can appear completely different on different people. I’d also really recommend booking a trial, or even having your makeup done a few times in the lead-up to your wedding so you feel comfortable and confident in what suits you.” “A lot of people think less is more, but for longevity, you need that extra bit of makeup so it holds up through the day. Layering is also key!” “My favourite part of the collaboration was definitely the group of us. We all got on so well, had such a laugh, and it just felt like everyone really brought the vision to life together, which made the whole experience even better.” Styling a Moody, Romantic Wedding Our gorgeous dresses were supplied by Naomi Bridal Boutique. The Baccara gown by Eva Lendel was the perfect dress with its soft drama and natural movement. It has that slightly undone, romantic feel that aligns beautifully with the Wuthering Heights aesthetic. The silhouette of the dress is soft and effortless, with a quiet, romantic impact. It feels modern yet timeless, enhancing the bride without overpowering her. The movement and softness complemented the moody, windswept styling perfectly, creating a really cohesive and romantic look. This style is perfect for brides who want movement, softness, and a gown that feels effortlessly romantic rather than overly structured. Naomi’s advice to future brides is “Focus on how it makes you feel. The right dress should feel effortless, confident, and completely you. Start with your personal style, then layer in elements of your theme. The best looks feel natural, not forced.” “Brides are leaning towards softer, more expressive styles that feel fashion-led but still wearable.” To complement the moody, romantic feel of this Wuthering Heights inspired shoot, Hancocks Menswear created a groom look that felt timeless, powerful, and perfectly in keeping with the Heathcliff influence behind the vision. The groom wore a classic black tux with tailored trousers and waistcoat, finished with a black velvet jacket that added depth, texture, and a subtle sense of drama. The velvet detailing brought a nod to the darker romantic tone of the story, while still feeling refined and wearable for a modern wedding. The overall look was intentionally understated yet impactful, balancing the softness of the bridal styling with a strong, cinematic edge that tied the whole story together beautifully. Bringing together our venue styling was three amazing wedding suppliers. We had Hall Farm Hotel, Finishing Touches Wedding & Event Hire, and Raspberry Rose Designs. They understood my vision immediately and elevated it beyond anything I could have imagined. I knew it was going to be beautiful with this team by my side. The rustic barn conversion at Hall Farm was a natural home for our Wuthering Heights inspired shoot. We had the stunning surroundings for our outdoor images, with the sweeping countryside and lake. We had exclusive use of the venue, just as a bride and groom would on their wedding day, which gave us full creative license to immerse ourselves in the moody, romantic, and definitely windswept day with no interruptions. Angela’s (Hall Farm) advice to future brides is “Choose a venue that feels like you. Beyond the practicalities, it should reflect your personality and the atmosphere you want to create for your day. Whether that’s romantic and dramatic, relaxed and rustic, or something completely unique, the right setting will shape the entire experience, for both you and your guests” “Couples often tell us how much they value the exclusivity and flow of the day. We only host one wedding at a time, so the entire venue is theirs to enjoy with their loved ones.” Soft, natural textures, rich reds, florals and fruits, flickering statement candelabras were all brought together to bring our vision to life! Sarah at Raspberry Rose Designs, and Sue at Finishing Touches Wedding & Event Hire, came together and created an iconic table display. Sarah used a beautiful handmade paper with traditional handwritten script to fit the natural, raw theme that was set in the Yorkshire Moors. The gorgeous quote written on the banner was a perfect nod to the passionate love between Cathy and Heathcliff, something that couples could use in their own weddings, a personal quote between the two of them printed on to their wedding stationery. The entwined C & H was the most perfect touch. Sarah shared this advice “Wedding stationery is one of those small things which makes such a big impact on the overall vibe. If you have a theme or specific colour scheme you can really amplify this with your stationery. Lean into the theme and really think about the textures and materials you use. Whether this is the card chosen, the rustic or simple clean lines, or if you love layers of ribbon or feel a classic wax seal is more you; just go for it!” Sue showed us how an intimate wedding could look so beautiful with the draping fabric, caterpillar style layout and touches of gold and floral pieces mixed in with the gorgeous deep colour palette. Sue shared that “Draping is a wedding trend for 2026 that we are loving. Soft fabrics, flowing textures, and layering help to create a romantic atmosphere from ceiling installations to delicate backdrops. Draping can transform any space to something special by combining lighting and statement florals.” Capturing the Story Capturing our beautiful vision was Merika Green Photography and Dan & Chris at Cask Creative. They all knew how much fun this was going to be when we saw the weather forecast was rain and 50mph winds…but isn’t that what Wuthering Heights is?! Merika was the perfect photographer for this shoot, after growing up loving period dramas she was always going to be the one to capture that romantic, raw aesthetic that we needed. She listened to all our interpretations of the film and our visions, as well as some of her own stunning ideas. Merika has said “we embraced the weather and the result was magical. The shot of Jen running through the grass, the wind lifting her dress and tangling through her hair, creating a scene that felt straight out of a timeless period drama.” “Authentic storytelling happens when couples feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Trusting your photographer means you can relax, forget the camera, and let real moments unfold organically.” This is exactly what this shoot was about, real movement, real emotion, and moments that feel completely unposed. Dan & Chris have come together to create a perfect videographer team. They brought this to life through beautifully captured, emotive film. They focussed on the in between moments, showing the bits that are sometimes missed, the way the dress moved in the wind, the small shifts in expressions, the natural and unscripted parts that are just as beautiful. Dan & Chris added that “Photography freezes a moment beautifully, but film lets you relive it in a much more immersive way. With our wedding films, we like to tell a story for the couple to come back to and feel those emotions again and again. You might not watch it every week, but when you do, it takes you straight back. Photos are essential, but video gives you a completely different layer of memory from the day. The vows, the speeches, the atmosphere and the way everything actually unfolded.” “A big part for us about this industry is getting to work with and meet so many amazing people. It was great to see how aligned everything felt creatively. Everyone was working towards the same mood and didn't overcomplicate it. It made space to focus on the details and just let everything happen naturally.” Helping us all achieve our vision was the beautiful Jen Atkin, Mrs Uk winner! Jen was an absolute dream to work with, going with our ideas and thoughts, listening to every one of us. Jen loved seeing herself as a bride again but in a totally different way to how she looked when she got married to her husband. Jen added “I loved the dewy bridal make up and the way my hair was done was different to anything I’ve ever had. I felt so pretty!” “As someone who wears pretty dresses often I found it hard finding a wedding dress when I was getting married in 2019. Bridal confidence is something so incredibly different from pageant confidence. Everything from the decor, tones, colours, candles, the bridal make up and wearing white just makes everything feel so much more romantic. Bridal confidence to me is much more confidence in knowing that as beautiful as you look on your wedding day, you know you’ll win your man’s heart over and over again regardless…the way you dress up on your wedding day is for YOU.” Lincolnshire Wedding Suppliers Collaboration Leading this project showed me how amazing our team was. It showed me how much passion we all had for our part in the project and I loved that. To bring everything together, I created a mood board to ensure all suppliers were aligned while still allowing creative freedom. It made me feel so proud to have brought us all together. It was important to me that we were all local wedding companies. One of my favourite moments was seeing everyone arrive and immediately bring the vision to life with so much passion. I wanted future brides to see our collaboration and know that we are all from the Lincolnshire area and worked so well together. I feel very lucky that we have so many talented suppliers around us. I think an easy mistake brides can make is not being themselves. Your wedding hair should be you but extra, it shouldn’t be a whole new look as then you don’t feel comfortable in yourself. Also listening to other people isn’t always the best. Obviously you want people to love your look but if you’re happy with it then that is the most important thing. Your bridal hairstylist is with you all wedding morning, you want someone who you get on with and gets your vibe. Finding a stylist that fits your look will ensure that you achieve your wedding look perfectly. Check out their previous bridal styles, go in for a consultation or even book a hair up for another occasion before hand. I would describe my bridal hair styling as romantic, feminine, and soft-glam. I feel like my approach to bridal hair is unique as I am not just “the hairdresser”. If needed, I will help them beforehand with any recommendations they might need. I’ll help them plan their wedding morning so that it runs smoothly. During their trial I will go through things they like and don’t like about their hair and styles so that we choose the most perfect look for their day. Even on the day, I’m never just “the hairdresser”. I’ll do my best to keep everyone running to a good time, make sure outfits are spot on, dry flowers while everyones getting dressed, tie bows, fasten shoes, anything at all to make the morning perfect! If I can make a brides morning more seamless, then I will. For brides drawn to effortless, romantic styling with a modern editorial edge, this look is a beautiful reminder that your wedding day can feel both elevated and entirely your own.
